As many of you know ACICS is no longer considered a legitimate accrediting body. As a result many of the AI schools will lose their accreditation status and will either have to find accreditation or lose funding and inevitably shut down. If you went to AI Phoenix like myself than you know that ACICS was, as far I know, the only accreditor. Now whether Phoenix or any of the other schools can find a new accreditor in time remains to be seen. It's likely that in the following weeks to months they'll be making more less than beneficial changes to how they run things. If you're currently attending be cautious of any sudden changes in their behavior especially in regards to your financial aid. If a teach out comes down the pike don't take it. And for anyone attending or otherwise, fill out your DTR and hopefully the federal side of things will look a lot better this time next year. For those with private loans here's hoping we get more leverage in how our dealings with them are handled. With the DOE acknowledging that ACICS has been pulling this nonsense for years it means that it's on their radar that schools accredited by them are also incredibly problematic. All that being said it remains to be seen how this will effect things in the long term as not all AI schools have ACICS accreditation. Thoughts, questions?
